kavithaiMore than Kamal Haasan, his daughter Shruti’s name is better associated with music, especially the non-film kind. She is a big fan of music and she has done a lot of performances and she is the music director for a hindi movie now. She is young but has great knowledge about music says her father.
Kavitha Gundar’s who released Vallavan pop album a year ago and got famous through Madai Thiranthu Song in tamil are now releasing their new album again.
The young actress, who is trained in Indian and western classical music, has her own band called Extramentals and performs quite regularly. So it is quite natural for her to be the chief guest at the launch of Emcee Jesz’s first Tamil pop album, Kavithai Gundar. Emcee Jesz, a Malaysian rapper, was part of Yogi B’s successful album Vallavan.
Shruti showered praise on the album and said that albums like Kavithai Gundar would go a long way in promoting non-film music in India.
Neha Bhasin, who was earlier part of the Viva band, complained that the music scene in India was dominated by film music. She performed the romantic number Thaniye from the album with Jesz.
The two videos Bad Boys and Thaniye are directed by N Manic, an assistant of Suresh Krissna. A R Saravanan, the creative head and producer at Studio 8 is the man behind the album.

Shankar’s boys coming back in Hindi

Posted by admin On April - 30 - 2009

boysWe all know the movie BOYS which was spoken about a lot and it was one of the best tamil movies for Teenagers and it was one of the biggest musical hits of A.R. Rahman. Now the combination is going to get back in Hindi, yes Boys is getting dubbed in Hindi… It’s a long comeback after 6 years since its first release in Tamil.
Siddarth and Genelia D’souza starred in the movie along with other actors like Nagul who got famous in Kadalil VIzhunden were introduced by Shankar in this movie.
The reasons for the comeback are the fame and reputation acquired by A.R. Rahman who recently won the Oscars for his exploding music in Slumdog Millionaire and Genelia’s success in the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa in which she played the role of a pretty girl who falls in love with a boy. This movie was a big hit in Bollywood. So, they have decided to dub BOYS in hindi again. A.M Rathnam, the producer feels that this movie will be a big hit in Hindi too and will get a good gross profit.
Genilia’s success with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa has also served as a drive for Boys dubbing, in which she played the college-going Harini and was wooed by Munna, played by Siddharth. She has reached her fame in Bollywood and so this hindi dubbing of boys could increase her reputation still more.
Boys was really a super doper hit in tamil with a lot of support from teenagers but it got a lot of bad critics from people since it had some bad messages to the youngsters too. Let’s see how this movie turns out to the Bollywood fans.

Posted by admin On April - 30 - 2009

mallika1Bollywood’s sex symbol Mallika sherawat is trying to get her fame in Hollywood industry in the upcoming movie HISS. While Aishwarya Rai and Freida Pinto have already created names for themselves in Hollywood, Mallika Sherawat is busy trying really hard to woo the West. Recently the milk shake under her name made some good reputation for her.
She recently became the first Bollywood actress to be honoured with her own milkshake at West Hollywood hotspot Millions of Milkshakes, where celebs like Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Heidi and Spencer, Perez Hilton and Tim Allen already have their own milkshakes. Mallika says, “It’s wonderful that Hollywood has welcomed me with open arms, whether it’s lunch with the mayor or a milkshake being named after me. I am having a great time in LA. Besides it’s cool to have a Mallika shake next to a Leonardo DiCaprio one!”
Her first tryst with Hollywood was a small role in Jackie Chan’s The Myth and the actress’ film Hisss is being helmed by Jennifer Lynch. “The post production of Hisss is going great. It has become the first Bollywood production to be represented by top Hollywood agency Endeavor, who brokered the deal for Slumdog Millionaire,” she says.

Shriya saran’s demand in industry and her reputation….

Posted by admin On April - 30 - 2009

shriyaShriya who is doing a lot of films paralelly has got herself a good name and demand in the industry. From a nondescript student in Delhi’s LSR College, the Haridwar-born svelte Shriya Saran has certainly come a long way. With her Tamil film Thoranai opposite Vishal getting ready to release, here’s a walk down memory lane with the sizzling shreya towards her success.
The Spark Start for Shreya’s career:
Tirakthi Kyon Hawa, by Reenu Nathan was the music video which launched shreya to doors tamil industry. She would not have imagined about it when she was doing this part.
But that’s what happened when Ramoji Films decided to cast her in the all-newbie Ishtam (2001). That was followed up by Santhosham (2002) and Tagore (2003), and suddenly, Shriya was hot property in Telugu cinema.
Getting into Tamil Cinema in Enakku 20 Unakkku 18:
Tamil wasn’t far off for her. Shriya starred in Enakku 20 Unakku 18, along with Trisha and Tarun in which she played the role of very cute girl and was attractive than trisha in the movie. The A R Rahman musical might not have been a superhit, but it got her noticed. After a stint in Telugu, she was back with a bang in the drool-worthy Mazhai with Jayam Ravi.
Shriya’s Acting In Sivaji
Mazhai’s raunchy rain-scenes and sexy songs landed Shriya the project every Tamil heroine — particularly rival Trisha — would give anything for: director Shankar and superstar Rajinikanth’s blockbuster, Sivaji.
Skimpy outfits, daring hip movements and a saucy smile were showcased flatteringly, even if acting was non-existent in Shriya’s role.
Thus entered Tamil Nadu’s poster-girl for 2007 despite the fallout on account of the tiny outfit she wore to a formal function and received brickbats.
Oomph factor and glamour aside, Shriya wasn’t content with being just the flavour of the Southern industry and that’s when Awaarapan(2007) and Mission: Istanbul (2008) landed her in Hindi films. And who cares if she didn’t make it big there, it got her noticed, right
After Bollywood, Shriya made her Hollywood debut in Ashok Amritaraj’s The Other End of the Line, followed by a Deepa Mehta. Shriya has Thoranai lined up with Vishal, Kandhaswamy with Vikram and Kutty with Dhanush. All these films seem to amply showcase her considerable glam image.

Mariyadhai Movie Is for Vijayakanth’s Fans

Posted by admin On April - 30 - 2009

mariyathai1Mariyathai Movie starring Vijayakanth in lead role — the latest from the stable of Raj TV and T Siva’s Amma Creations — says ‘Wonderful respect’, and you can’t help but wonder what fare ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth will dish out. But then again, its director Vikraman is known to make family entertainers.
Mariyadhai seems to take off where Vikraman’s previous film, Vaanathai Pola, left off — thanks to dozens of bullock-carts, kind father-figures and wholesome families. But half an hour into the film, the differences become apparent.
The story is set in the hills of Pollachi. Father Annamalaiyaar and son Raja aka Pichai (both played by a ponderous Vijaykanth), mother (Ambika), a pretty sister and a rather chubby Chandra starring Meera Jasmine, a radio jockey who arrives to stay with them because her parents have left for the US. There’s the ever-present Man-Friday (Ramesh Khanna), who potters around the home and provides many opportunities for humour.
In the midst of all this, Chandra falls in love with Raja — a dutiful son who has been brought up differently by his father — but he does not return her love. He’s too busy running his tractor and earning money. A flashback tells us that Raja was once in love with Radha (Meena, in a delightful role) but it went sour. That’s when, in 1980s fashion, Chandra vows to make him love her.
It says a lot for Vikraman’s screenplay that despite the all-too-familiar landscape, the Vijaykanth-Ramesh Khanna duo can still evoke some laughs. You don’t often see bumbling mothers who are terrible at cooking, but such caricatures are the director’s forte. There are also the mega-serial induced stock twists and turns, peppered liberally with political punch lines and devotion to parents.
Vijaykanth looks ponderous and stiff-necked, and delivers his lines in robot-fashion, and seemingly is Superman in a veshti. It’s his show all the way. Meera Jasmine has little to do except prance around in ill-fitting dresses. Surprisingly, it’s Meena who walks away with honours. Her role is definitely different and her saris are excellent. Ambika is fun to watch. Shanmugarajan and Sampath are wasted.
Suresh Ars’ editing fits the bill while Vidhesh’s camerawork brings beautiful Pollachi to life. Mariyadhai is full of stock situations and trite dialogues but can satisfy Vijaykanth’s fans.
