Gnabagangal – Love Story of a Lyricist

The national award winning lyricist Pa. Vijay has made a big mark in Tamil cinema by debuting as the hero in Gnabagangal along with actress Sridevika.The story is about his late friend Kadhiravan’s love story. Kadhiravan who is national award winning lyricist for the song “Gnabagam Illaya” is the main character of the movie and his love life with Meera played by actress Sridevika is depicted beautifully in the movie. Kadhiravan (played by Pa. Vijay) who flies to New Delhi to receive the national award goes to meet his former lover Meera (Sri Devika) after the award ceremony. She does not know of her phenomenal rise and when he goes to her house she invites inside her palatial house. She has been forcefully married to a business man by her father inspire of her deep love with Kadhir. When they both meet after a long time, flashback of their past romance blossoms between them.
Kadhir soon finds that meera was hiding something from him and she was not really happy. He later finds that Meera’s husband has committed suicide and has left huge debts to pay off and she was struggling with it. But he is heartbroken since Meera does not tell him the truth. The next day when he attends a felicitation organized by the Tamil sangam, she finds that Meera Priyan is none other than Kadhir her lover. She wants to re-unite with him but fate has a different climax for them. The film has quite interesting screenplay and Sridevika has performed really amazing though her costumes do not fit her role. Pa. Vijay has done a good job, but still his facial expressions are not much appreciable.
The music played by James Wick is good to hear. The screenplay is classy and traditional. The narration could have been made still faster to make the film exciting. Gnabangal is a good to watch love story.
