manirathnamAce director Mani Rathinam was admitted in the hospital last night after he complained of breathing difficulty and discomfort in the chest. Specialists, including cardiologists, were attending on him.
He was admitted to Chennai Apollo Hospitals late Tuesday night, after he complained of chest discomfort and giddiness. According to a hospital bulletin, his condition is stable.
Hospital sources said Mr Maniratnam was admitted at around 1’o clock, early morning after he complained of chest pain and giddiness.
He was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital.
Preliminary medical tests revealed that he had a slight discomfort in the heart.
However, Mr Maniratnam has to be at the ICU for the next one week for observation.
He has already had 2 attacks, one during the year 2004 and the other was in the year 2006 while shooting bi-lingual movie Yuva and this attack is his 3rd heart attack. “He had a few minutes of breathing difficulty and dizziness.
There is no need for any panic as the director is healthy and likely to be discharged after routine check-up and a day’s rest. He may resume work shortly,” the sources said.
His condition is now stable but he has been advised complete bed rest for few weeks. ”His condition was absolutely fine,” the sources said. He has postponed his schedule for shooting of the film bi-lingual film Ashokavanam due to his ill-health.
The 52-year-old director, who introduced Oscar winning musician A R Rahman in “Roja”  is currently involved in a project starring national award winner Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, among others, tentatively titled “Raavan.”
